The 2022 State of Agribusiness in Australia report, released by RSM Australia earlier this year identified comprehensive planning of succession as one of the most essential elements within the agricultural industry.

Succession planning does not have a one-size-fits-all solution; every farm, property, and business is different. The report highlighted that a proactive approach to generational change was crucial to ensuring the continuation and success of the Australian agricultural industry.

Succession is all about planning for change or transition within a business and the family, and it usually requires a family member to be the 'change agent' to initiate the conversation and get the process underway.
